Brett Tanner
CFP, President, Certified Financial Planner, Group, Life,Disability & Critical Illness Consultant

As an independent life insurance broker with Tanner Financial Services, Brett is also the exclusive agent for the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan in North York servicing the Toronto Regional Board of Trade. Brett was recently appointed Regional Marketing Director for the Chambers Plan in Ontario.

Brett began his insurance career in 1997 and is licensed as a life insurance broker and as well as being a Certified Financial Planner.

Brett is also very proud to run the Tanner Financial Services Charity Golf Classic each year benefitting autistic children. Over the first 9 years the event has raised over $90,000 towards helping these children and their families.

Sharon Wang, P. Eng.

Sharon Wang is a financial consultant, licensed mortgage agent since 2009 (Lic #. M09002174) and life insurance broker since 2012. She is also a tax professional providing tax preparation and planning services to our clients. Prior to joining the financial services industry, Sharon worked in the computer software industry for over 20 years focusing on financial software. She graduated from the University of Toronto Electrical Engineering in 1985 with a degree as a Professional Engineer. Sharon is currently working on her CFP designations.

Sharon loves to work with people to help them to reach their financial goals. Sharon works from both the investment side and credit side to provide full, tax efficient and complete financial plans and solutions that focus on the specific needs of the clients.

Sharon loves to golf and is very active in local charities. Sharon is fully committed to providing an outstanding level of service and support to our clients. Sharon is also fluent in Mandarin.

Manuel Ferreira
Group, Life, Disability & Critical Illness Consultant

Manuel obtained his insurance license in 2007 after a 17 year career as Operations Manager for a North American wide distributor of construction materials.

As an independent life insurance broker with Tanner Financial Services, Manuel is an exclusive agent for the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan in North York servicing the Toronto Regional Board of Trade and in Brampton servicing the Brampton Board of Trade. Additionally he provides expert consultation and advice in the areas of employee benefits, life insurance, disability and critical illness for individuals and companies of all sizes and industries.

Manuel's focus is on individual employee benefits, critical illness, disability and life insurance for owners and employees of small businesses. Manuel is also fluent in both Spanish and Portugese, while representing the Toronto Hispanic Chamber.

Manuel is the Honorary Ambassador of the Brampton Board of Trade and a Board member of the King City Skating Club.

Accounting
Financial & Administrative Assistant

Jane graduated with a General Accounting Diploma from Centennial College and has worked in the accounting field for over 20 years. She has been with the Tanner Financial Services team since 2009 as our Financial and Accounting Administrator.

Jane is fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin. She enjoys using her accounting and administrative skills to provide the highest level of customer service to our clients. She is also experienced with income tax preparation, and is adept at multitasking.

Paul Chiarot
Associate Regional Marketing Director

Paul joined Tanner Financial in 2012 as Associate Regional Marketing Director for the Chambers Plan in Ontario. Paul holds a science degree from Dalhousie University and a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Prior to joining Tanner Financial, Paul held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility at Honeywell Limited in the Toronto Area. These roles included: Product Specialist, Product Manager, Estimating Supervisor and Project Manager. Paul has had a keen interest in business, marketing and investing for nearly 20 years. He is now an insurance advisor.

Paul has been involved in a number of hobbies including coaching his children’s soccer teams.

Paul believes in providing the best possible service to both internal and external customers thereby building lasting relationships and growing businesses.

Chloe Connor
Financial & Marketing and Administrative Support Manager

Chloe attended Heriot-Watt University in Scotland under the Textile Design Program. Her textiles have been featured in displays in Edinburgh and in Paris runway shows. Her interior designs have also been highly recommended for implementation. During her time at Heriot-Watt she learned about business marketing and branding as well as business economics.

Upon moving to Canada, Chloe completed her Personal Assistant Diploma. She worked for the Johnston Group as a Marketing and Administrative Support Manager for the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan from 2008 until transferring to Tanner Financial Services under the same role in 2012.

Chloe focuses on assisting the advisors and chambers which work within the Chambers Plan. She prides herself on her planning, communication and service skills. Chloe is an avid volunteer at her son's school and also sits on the board as the Director of Marketing for the charity Luke's Place.

Dan Kusel
Certified Financial Planner

Dan has a Level II Life Insurance license and has successfully passed the Canadian Securities Course.

Previously, Dan operated a successful financial planning practice for 12 years with investment Planning Counsel. His business philosophy is to build long term relationships with clients committed to realizing their financial and personal dreams through the development, implementation and review of a comprehensive financial plan. He believes strongly that financial independence is not an end in itself, but rather a means to personal growth. Financial success is available to anyone who sets their investment plans on a strong foundation of managing their budget and protecting their future with adequate insurance. His investment philosophy is to consolidate and simplify holdings, take a long-term view and to make financial management as automatic as possible. Dan is a financial coach who looks after his clients’ financial affairs so they have the time and piece of mind to enrich their lives.
Dan focuses on business owners and their families as well as people planning for and living their retirement.

In addition to looking after his clients, Dan serves on the Boards of Directors of service agencies.

Dan has a Masters Degree in Economics and continues to maintain his professional knowledge in all aspects of financial planning through continuous education.

His hobbies include art history, travel, hiking and cooking.

 

Mike Dunn
Consultant

Mike began his career with Manulife in the investment industry in 2007. With roles in Compliance and as an Internal Wholesaler, he has focused on the training, education and implementation of various investment products to one's overall wealth strategy. In 2011, he joined RBC Dominion Securities as a Segregated Fund Specialist and focused on helping Investment Advisors and their clients understand segregated funds and where they fit in a portfolio.

Mike obtained his Bachelor degree in Communications and Business from Wilfrid Laurier University, as well as a post graduate certificate in Marketing Management from Sheridan College. Mike has completed numerous industry related courses and has successfully completed his Certified Financial Planning designation.

Mike is an avid golfer and sports enthusiast.

Ian Veitch
Certified Financial Planner

Ian holds a Level II Life Insurance license and has successfully passed the Canadian Securities Course.

Ian previously operated a successful financial planning practice over the last 15 years with the Investment Planning Counsel of Canada. His personal passion for helping people and businesses with financial and investment management solutions is combined with over fifteen years of “hands on” executive experience in a variety of service organizations, including at the vice president level.

He encourages clients to think clearly and early on about their life goals, to pay themselves first as a savings objective, to act on the disciplined advice of a qualified financial professional, and to continuously monitor and update their financial affairs to changing circumstances and opportunities. Ian creates long-term relationships with his clients. He helps people build financial independence, so they can have peace of mind and better realize their lifetime dreams. His investment philosophy is to simplify and consolidate holdings, take a long term view, and make financial management as automatic as possible.

Ian believes in continuous education and personal growth and regularly upgrades his professional & personal abilities. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree and a Masters Degree from the Universities of Toronto and York respectively. He has been an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto and lecturer at Ryerson University.
He has been an active volunteer for charitable causes in the community, and currently chairs the board of directors of the YMCA of Simcoe-Muskoka. His hobbies include golf, skiing, boating, wilderness canoeing, Group of Seven art, hiking, and travel.

Corra Puntara
Financial & Administrative Assistant

Corra has worked in the Investment Industry for the past 25 years. She has worked with Advisors at all stages of their careers, from ones new to the Industry, to seasoned veterans with years of experience. Her main focus has always been customer service, making sure that clients always get the service they want and have come to expect. The skills developed over the years have helped her succeed in her role, as well as establish lifelong friendships.

Corra has successfully completed the Canadian Securities Course.

Corra enjoys reading and speaks Conversational Italian.

Cynthia Sani-Bakhtiari
Customer Service Representative

Serving as our Customer Service Representative for our group and individual life clients, Cynthia is an integral part of our team. Prior to relocating to the GTA Cynthia studied at the University of Buffalo earning a Bachelor’s degree in 2006, and is also life licensed. She brings forth over 10 years’ experience in the customer service field and enjoys interacting with her clients in striving to provide extraordinary support at all times. A true Leo, Cynthia is both loyal and energetic, and as well a proud mother and wife.

Umberto Speciale
Financial Planner
Life, Disability & Critical Illness Consultant

Umberto Speciale has been in the financial services industry for over 20 years after graduating from York University. He has held the Certified Financial Planner designation since 1993 and became a Branch Manager in 1994. He works with his clients in order to develop a financial plan that caters to his clients specific financial needs. He also ensures that his clients have proper life, disability and critical illness coverage.

Umberto lives in Woodbridge with his wife Cathy of 20 years and his sons Matthew ,Nicholas, Michael and Andrew.

Nigel McGilvery

Nigel is a dedicated employee benefits consultant and financial services professional with over 15 years of experience. His time spent working with employers and employees alike enables him to provide his clients with group retirement/benefits, life, health and wealth solutions that best fits their needs and individual requirements. Nigel has a proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with his clients and working within partnerships.

As an independent life insurance broker with Tanner Financial Services, Nigel is also an exclusive agent for the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan in North York servicing the Toronto Regional Board of Trade and in Brampton servicing the Brampton Board of Trade.

Nigel is an avid sports fan and enjoys coaching football and spending time with his 3 children.

Mark Woodyatt
Group, Life and Living Benefits Advisor

Mark joined Tanner Financial in August 2016, with a focus on employee/group benefits. He is an exclusive advisor for the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan for Brampton, North York, and Scarborough. He takes pride in building solid relationships and working with clients to achieve their goals.

Mark has worked in the industry for over 5 years in both the U.S. and Canada, having relocated to the GTA in 2014.

Mark currently coaches hockey in the GTHL and enjoys playing golf in his spare time.

Monique Rodriques
Administrative Assistant

Monique has worked in the financial and customer service industries for over 20 years delivering excellent client service to her clients. She comes with a diverse background as a Commercial Surety Underwriter and Financial Consultant. Monique adds value, strength and depth to the Tanner Financial team and our clients.

In her free time she enjoys playing basketball, being out doors and being a mother.
